Traditional Sambar

Ingredients
Thoor dal- 1/4 cup
Shallots- 10 nos
Green Chillies- 5 nos
Tomato- 1 no
Cumin seeds- 1/4 tsp
Asafoetida-1/4 tsp
Wash dal and add thoor dal, shallots, green chillies, tomato, cumin seeds, asafoetida with 1 cup of water in a pressure cooker for 2 to 3 whistles.
Sambar powder- 2 tsp
Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
Tamarind extract- 1 shallot size
Curry leaves
Coriander leaves
Cumin seeds-1/2 tsp
Mustard seeds- 1/2 tsp
Red chillies broken- 2 nos
Coconut oil - 3 tsp
Salt
Vegetables (Choose any one given below)
Lady,s finger
Drum stick
Cucumber+Brinjal+ Drum stick+ carrot+ beans.
Methods of preparation
Heat a pan with 3 tsp of coconut oil, add Red chilies, mustard seeds and cumin seeds to fry
Add curry leaves and chopped vegetables to keep them fry for a minute
Then mix the items which was cooked in pressure cooker
In a vessel mix Sambar powder, tamarind extract, turmeric powder with some water and add them also.
Pour salt, coriander leaves and water to taste
Keep them cook for 10 minutes in low flame
Again add little bit of coriander and curry leaves and serve it hot to taste.
