Cucumber chutney

Ingredients

Cucumber- 1 small size, cut into pieces

Shallots- 5

Urad dhal- 1 tsp

Red chilies- 6

Coconut oil

Salt

Grated coconut- 2 tsp

Pottu kadalai- 1/2 tsp

Cumin seeds- 1 tsp

Mustard seeds- 1/2 tsp

Curry leaves

Tamarind- 1 pea size

Methods for prepation

  1. Heat a kadai, pour 2 to 3 tsp of coconut oil and add 5 red chilies, 1/2 tsp urad dhal, 1/2 tsp cumin seeds, Shallots and cucumber.

  2. Saute it well for 5 to 10 minutes in medium flame and add grated coconut, salt, pottu kadalai, and tamarind. Saute it for a minute and switch off the flame.

  3. Then keep aside for room temperature.

  4. Grind those mixture into fine paste. Add required water for grinding.

  5. Transfer those paste in a bowl. Add water if needed and mix it well.

  6. Heat a pan with 1 tsp of oil, add 1 red chilly, mustard seeds, urad dhall and cumin seeds. Wait till it splutters and add curry leaves. Switch off the flame and mix those with chutney.

  7. Serve hot with idli and dosai.
