Paruppu curry

Ingredients

Moong dal- 3 tsp

Shallots- 10 nos

Garlic- 10 cloves

Tomatoes- 1no

Green chillies- 4 no

Red chilies- 2 nos

Coconut oil/ Ghee- 2 tsp

Curry leaves

Grated coconut- 1 cup

Cumin seeds- 1 tsp

Mustard seeds- 1/2 tsp

Turmeric powder- 1/4 tsp

Salt

Methods for preparation

  1. In a pressure cooker, Add moong dal with shallots, 5 garlic cloves 1/4 tsp of cumin seeds, tomato, 1 cup of water and green chillies

  2. Let them cook for 10 minutes in low flame and keep aside.

  3. Coarsely grated cocunut with 1/4 tsp cumin seeds 5 cloves garlic, and turmeric powder.

  4. Heat a pan with 3 tsp of cocunut oil or ghee, add mustard seeds, red chillies and1/2 tsp cumin seeds and let them fried

  5. Then add Moong dal mixture with coarsely grated cocunut and mix well gently with enough water and salt to taste.

  6. Finally add some curry leaves and serve hot to taste with rice.
