Nethali meen kulambu

Ingredients

Nethali/ Archovies - 250 grams

Sliced raw mango- 10

Grated coconut- 1/2 cup

Garlic- 4 cloves

Turmeric powder- 1/4 tsp

Red chilly- 6-7

Cumin seeds- 1/4 tsp

Mustard seeds- 1/4 tsp

Coconut oil- 3 tsp

Curry leaves

Green chilly- 2

Tomato- 1/2

Salt

Methods for preparation

  1. Cut head and tail of fish, wash it well and keep aside in a mud claypot

  2. Grind grated coconut with turmeric powder, red chilly, cumin seeds and garlic in a coarse paste, mix those with nethali.

  3. Then add sliced mango, tomato, salt and green chilly, stir it well with required water.

  4. Cook them well for 10 to 15 minutes on low flame.

  5. The fish curry should be thicker and be care to use salt to taste.

  6. Heat another pan with 2 to 3 tsp of oil, add mustard seeds and let it fried.

  7. Mix those in mud claypot and close the lid for 2 minutes, till the oil should be floating on the top.

  8. Switch off the flame.

  9. It's a delicious kulambu to taste with rasam and aviyal
